Sixteen team members from five EU-countries (Austria, Germany, Finland, Kosovo, Switzerland) three cooperating universities (besides CUAS as leader, it is Finish JAMK, who is also CUAS Double diplom degree partner in Health and Social Care; Kosovan College Heimerer, who is CUAS partner in ICM-Mobility and Swiss SUPSI, who was a partner in the successfully completed ELLAN-Project and five other partners (from research and social network as German DJI and ENSIS), as well as working life partners from ELFC and IT-Design), gathered at the end of May in Finish Jyväskylä.

We discussed the progress of the TOBP-project and started works on synergies based on the case studies from Austria, Finland, Germany, Kosovo and Switzerland. These case studies puts TOBPs innovative participatory approach into practise and tell target groups life-stories from their perspective. By giving them a vital voice, we exactly meet their transition challenges and furthermore explore marginalized knowledge of other cultures. Regina Klein, project leader and driver of TOBP’s overall paradigm shift: “Lessons learned in the starting phase of TOBP are, that co-creation as a user-centred and -controlled participatory approach cannot be imposed from above or prescribed like a medicine. Co-creation needs time and space to be put into practice and to iteratively co-construct a common understanding. And first of all, it starts within the working group itself!” Therefore, to use the transcultural diversity of TOBP’s transnational working group, we successfully piloted a co-creative participatory development, evaluation and assessment tool, so called “Co-creating Reflective Spaces”, which will be continued in all of TOBP’s upcoming transnational events.

The TOBP meeting in Jyväskylä had also significant field aspect, since we visited local working life partner Multicultural Centre Gloria, where we met with a multidisciplinary team (from social worker, pedagogics, psychologists to managers and volunteers from all around the world) and we attended very impressive and efficient A-Z Finish lesson. In addition, we visited JAMK digital centre so we could proceed in preparation of digitalization the case studies, learning scenarios, user- manuals and badge-packing units for the upcoming platform of the TOBP project: TransRECOland. TransRECOland as TOBP’s platform originates under the charge of Kosovan IT company Cacttus and will serve as dissemination interface, as learning environment, and as well as participatory open space,  where partners could in the future download TOBP’s developed case studies, store their own inspiring case studies and gain the badges as proof of their transition mentoring skills. Thus, the project strives to contribute to both bettering transcultural competences of future “transition mentors” in ELFC, as well as ameliorating the possibilities of usage the existing transcultural knowledge and prior learning of incoming migrants in European societies. Just recognition – join us.

The upcoming events:
September 2019 the TOBP platform TransRECOland lounge
February 2020 First TOBP multiplier event in Jyväskylä, Finland
